So, looking back on May.
What I Did in May#
Participated in Google I/O 2018#
I attended the event. For my reflection on Google I/O 2018 and English notes from watching some session videos, please see below.
Main Job Reflection#
Besides participating in Google I/O 2018, looking back:
- Started modularization work.
- Automation using Bitrise x fastlane.
These were areas I focused on this month.
Started Modularization Work#
With the introduction of AAB, Dynamic Features, and the increase of the maximum Instant Apps size to 10MB at this Google I/O, I believe the wave of modularization has rapidly accelerated in the Android community. In the team I belong to, I was personally thinking of referring to @kgmyshin’s DroidKaigi 2018 presentation to first divide by layers and then into meaningful module units. We’ve only just started discussing this with a few team members, but we’re talking about whether it might be okay to start dividing into meaningful units after separating into common and app. In other words, it’s still a bit vague. To everyone who is proceeding with modularization for existing products, both inside and outside the company, how are you all proceeding?
Automation using Bitrise x fastlane#
Bitrise x fastlane seems capable of more settings than expected, so I’ll utilize them more.
Recently, using these tools, when a tag is created:
- Generate a signed APK.
- Generate a Changelog.
- Create a new Draft Release on GitHub Releases.
- Enter the Changelog in the description.
- Upload the signed APK as an asset.
- Notify Slack that the Draft Release is ready.
Previously, I used unique scripts, but generating Changelogs, creating GitHub Releases, and uploading APKs to GitHub Releases are all actions provided by fastlane, and could be achieved with Bitrise features alone. (I can hear voices saying “I already do that,” but I’ll ignore them.)
I plan to present about the troubles I faced with automation and how I solved them at potatotips @ FOLIO in June.
Others#

I just have to do this at my own pace.
- Watched “Shoplifters” I saw news somewhere on SNS that it won the Palme d’Or and decided to watch it. It was a movie with various waves, including scenes that made me think “Ah, this is nice~ (´ェ`)” and scenes that were heart-wrenchingly moving. Sakura Ando’s acting was particularly impressive.
That’s all. Good work in May too!
