Looking Back on September 2018

This article was translated from Japanese by Claude Code.

2018 is now about 75% over┣¨━━━━(゚Д゚)━━━━ン!!!! ※As of October 1 (Monday)

Let me quickly reflect on September.

What I Did in September
#

Participated in DevFest Tokyo 2018

I was recommended to participate by a colleague at my company, and I participated in an Android panel discussion. We talked about which Android Architecture Components we’re adopting, their pitfalls, and libraries we’re considering adopting, together with engineers from various companies.

In current Android app development, Android Architecture Components are hot, but going forward, with the end of android.support package development and the release of androidx (the refactored version of these packages) 1.0.0, migration to AndroidX will become urgent. The larger the app, the more pitfalls there seem to be.

If you’re wondering “What is AndroidX migration? How do I do it?” I recommend reading the official documentation on migration first.

Networked with Native Engineers in the Matching Industry
#

Last month, when I participated in potatotips #54, I suggested to engineers from Eureka, Inc. that we have a tips-sharing meetup for native engineers in the matching industry. Soon after, I had the opportunity to chat and have drinks with multiple native engineers from the matching industry, including Eureka! I’m hoping we can also talk with companies we didn’t reach out to this time at the study group planned for November. (That study group is scheduled for mid-November.)

  • Went on a family trip

It was my first time planning a trip. It was quite eventful, but I’m glad they enjoyed the destination…! I want to go again.

  • Watched “One Cut of the Dead”

It made me laugh. I want to watch it again…!

As for the company, October looks like it will be a month of change with members leaving and new members joining. As our company is entering a new fiscal period, I’ll reset my mindset and be more careful again.

Roughly speaking, that’s how September was.

Thanks for September ヽ(’∀’)ノ
