Looking Back on April 2018

This article was translated from Japanese by Claude Code.

2018 is now about 35% over. ( ゚∀゚)・∵. グハッ!! (Seriously, it’s not a joke) ※As of May 3 (Thursday)

It’s now May 3, 2018. You have 243 days left this year. That’s 66.5%.

Continuing from last month, I’ll reflect.

What I Did in April
#

Participated in Google I/O 2018 Pre-Party
#

Based on my experience from last year, I shared tips I extracted. The content was:

  • Make effective use of Office Hours to ask Googlers questions and communicate your needs

  • Check out exhibits and demos in the Sandbox

  • There might be “souvenirs,” so keep some space in your luggage

  • Buy hoodie souvenirs and other merchandise early

Tips for Google I/O 2018 - Speaker Deck

Last year, I tweeted asking for questions to ask Googlers during Office Hours, and got mentions from juniors and peers at my company, so I felt a little useful. This year I’m collecting questions the same way. Currently, I’m trying using a Google Spreadsheet. Anyone can feel free to write down questions. If you feel hesitant about writing here or aren’t sure if your question is okay, feel free to send me a DM.

My First Techbook Festival
#

At the Techbook Festival, I published a book under the circle name “Coupling Union Android Club.” Check out Coupling Union here:

CyberAgent COUPLING UNION - Information Media for Matching Services Operated by CyberAgent Group

Three of us wrote about Google Tasks API, Account Hold, and Okio respectively.

It was my first Techbook Festival, so there were many things to reflect on, but I was happy that even with modest print quantities, we sold out. Also, it made me realize I want to write faster and create clearer, more understandable text. It was a valuable experience! Of course, we need to be careful about timing at work, but I definitely want to participate again. The sake after selling out was really the best. (I drank too much.)

  • New Project

I’m currently working on developing an Android application that has been in operation for several years. There are many things I want to improve, so I’ll do my best!

  • Watched Ready Player One

4.6 / 5! It was interesting. I saw it in 2D, so I want to watch it again in 3D.

That’s all. Thanks for April!
